1. Approximation It is from early childhood, still in the baby years, that we identify ourselves with an environment that responds to our affections. We become identified with those sketches in the mirror, rays of light that react to our movement. We integrate that image, that reflection, they call it the ideal I, and this is the foundation, the canvas through which we define ourselves, the ego… “But the important point is that this form situates the agency known as the ego,..., in a fictional direction that will forever remain irreducible for any single individual.” It is just an Approximation, It is just an Approximation, “that will only asymptotically approach the subject’s becoming by which” they must resolve their discordance with their own reality. Just an Approximation. So that which you are will never be YOU. Simply an Approximation. The bursting of a seed, the creation of life, an open wound.

about

Always near but perpetually far. Electronic experiments in style, genre, improvisation, and philosophical thought. Commander Goznales is here to create the soundtrack for the apocalypse. We are one but we are so so many. Approximation is to continually transform oneself into a string of other multiplicities, according to their thresholds and doors!!!!

Thank you for listening!

Album Notes:

1.Approximation

It is from early childhood,
still in the baby years,
that we identify ourselves
with an environment that responds to our affections.

We become identified with those sketches in the mirror,

rays of light that react to our movement.

We integrate that image, that reflection, they call it the ideal I,

and this is the foundation, the canvas
through which we define ourselves,

the ego…

“But the important point is that this form situates the agency known as the ego,...,

in a fictional direction that will forever remain irreducible for any single individual.”

It is just an Approximation,

It is just an Approximation,

“that will only asymptotically approach
the subject’s becoming by which” they must resolve their discordance with their own reality.

Just an Approximation.

So that which you are will never be YOU.

Simply an Approximation.

The bursting of a seed,

the creation of life,

an open wound.

2. Beat de Azucar

Beat de Azucar mellows things out in a spacey hip-hop kind of way. This instrumental track highlights the rhythmic soul that is behind Commander Goznales’ vision. This is a slow and groovy song that works as a sort of mantra to get the vibes settled in this wild album. @mikeeclark contributes with his ethereal voice and along with the @Moogmusic Matriarch pads create the atmosphere that swells behind the aggressive bass and groovy drums that characterize this track. It all comes together into a sweet sweet tune.

Azucar baby!!!!

3. Rain Song

We really got into a new form of creation with this song, which got some amazing and unexpected results. All started with a simple bass line phrasing its temperament very clearly and succinctly. Commander comes in to really infuse this melodramatic vibe with its characteristic out of earth sonic channelings. All the sounds involved coming together like the many voices that scream their shadows into the abyss - the stars of the same sky tuned into the same frequency. Check it out, feel the vibe, heal, project, go inside, it's raining out there, in the interiority of your 2021 self.

4. Mellodaze

A glance of exchanges,
Of exchanging glance.

I am seen, but not seen,
But not seeing, seeing is
Looking back, back towards,
Towards and back.

The capturing.
The capturing,
Not of you, nor I,
Not of they, not of him,
Not quite.

Not quite enough
Not quite enough to witness.

Unseen eyes,
Seeing me, seeing you.

If to gaze is to collapse, is to fall and relapse.

Then form is a function of truth in disjunction.

5. Meet Beat

Meet beat is one of our favorite songs we have ever recorded together. Born from an intense trip hop/drum n bass drum beat by @wandelaire/paul the tone was set for an intense musical ride. The driving bass line, with its punch and intensity, connects to the beats and together produce the heavy rhythm that creates the aggressively joyous vibe and intensity. @mikeclarkee provides the passionate lyrics that give this track its conceptual and theatrical overtone. There are hints of heavy metal, hip hop, drum n’ bass, and many other styles in this track that comes at you fast and ferociously so make sure you crank the volume up!!!

The origin of the name is inspired by the many Quixotic figures we have met on this platform. So many holograms out here that think they have a label and live in their own fantasy of professional success. We meet shapeshifters on a daily basis while wandering inside the sewers of this platform. We wonder whether they were engendered in these times or simply manifested themselves, as these first very gentle and gorgeous-loving beings, only to retreat into the abyss of the deep web like a ghost.

This song is an ode with profound gratitude to all of them, to all the phantasms. Treat this track as your daily social media cleanse, let this ritual cleanse your palette from the many male label managers who think they run this shit but barely have a grasp on reality, and treat this song as an uncovering of all the bullshit and lies that get spread around all media - the fabrication and simulacrum of reality through images and text . More importantly rejoice in the intense joy and soulful intention that we sought to transmit through it! We love you all!!!

Crank it up ma frien!

6. Cave Song

Imagine this: People live under the earth in a cavelike dwelling. Stretching a long way up toward the daylight is its entrance, toward which the entire cave is gathered. The people have been in this dwelling since childhood, shackled by the legs and neck..Thus they stay in the same place so that there is only one thing for them to look that: whatever they encounter in front of their faces. But because they are shackled, they are unable to turn their heads around.
A fire is behind them, and there is a wall between the fire and the prisoners

Some light, of course, is allowed to them, namely from a fire that casts its glow toward them from behind them, being above and at some distance. Between the fire and those who are shackled [i.e., behind their backs] there runs a walkway at a certain height. Imagine that a low wall has been built the length of the walkway, like the low curtain that puppeteers put up, over which they show their puppets.

Step into the cave, rejoice in the echoes of simulation and phantasmagoria!! Free yourself by embracing your own doppelgänger, we are all the specters of desire!!!
